600 days on our girls are still not back
3 December 2015
This Saturday, 5 December will be 600 days since our Chibok schoolgirls were abducted in their school Government Secondary School, Chibok by terrorists on the night of 14 April 2014. It will also be 3 days to complete 5 months since our meeting with the Nigerian president urging him to prioritise their immediate rescue and safe return; whereby he reiterated his commitment.
We therefore call on everyone, wherever you may be in Nigeria, and around the world to do something to mark this day. This becomes even more important as we all look forward to the 31 December deadline given by the president for their rescue and safe return, and the annihilation of the terrorists; (amidst reports of more abductions and unfortunately, silence by the government on the issue).
Events commence as from tomorrow, Friday, 4 December at Falomo roundabout, Ikoyi, Lagos, 5.30 – 7 pm; a special sit-out, #ChibokGirls Ambassadors activities, and a candle light procession at Unity Fountain Abuja, on Saturday, 5 pm; and so on.
Towards marking this 600 days of abduction and emphasising the importance of more urgent action to rescue our Chibok girls, we have created a Twibbon campaign – https://twibbon.com/Support/bringbackourgirls-600-days .
This changes your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media profile pictures with the 600 Days overlay.
Please help keep the awareness going by participating in, and/or organising an event; sharing the link online, and whatever else you can do.
Thank you.
